After spending 4 days playing with WebCenter 11g - 3 of which were spent at the Oracle Office in Reading - it was about time to start doing some actual development!
BTW - Thanks goes out to the trainers - Angelo Santagata & Flavius Sana - great job with reducing course down from 5 to 3 days last minute
So the first task - I have on my agenda will be to try to create a skin - Above you can see the quick concept I threw together.. The content page you can see will be a mashup of the BBC site - which I plan to try and use Ensemble to grab elements of the BBC and link in with my own little twitter custom concept design…
What do you guys think ![]()
I need to get some more icons sorted for the personal sidebar but its enough to get started with.
Read on if you want to see the Original skins supplied with 11g

Neato! I like seeing the various designs you come up with.
Did you have any issues installing Webcenter suite. I got a bit messed up with the final configuration on weblogic. Everything went find apart from the last bit of the configuration.
No there were a confusions of how to install the UCM with webcenter but apart from that it was fine.
At the moment I only have it installed on redhat and working - I plan to try the install on MS2003 sometime this month.
The install guide over at oracle should help.
I`m planning on setting up some viewlets on webcenter next month so keep an eye out
There is a viewlet here that may help

I like the look you have designed. Its very elegant. Can you tell me how to locate the new k9 skin?
Its still in design I will post an update to my blog when it is complete!
Hi John
thanks for the comments! Your skins look great
Hi John,
did you use ‘Extending Spaces’ mechanism to install this skin that is documented at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/webcenter/pdf/owcs_r11_extend_spaces_wp.pdf
?

This looks nice. We’re trying to do something similar and I’m having trouble finding out how you got more than 28 pixels of real estate in the top left of the chrome? Is this set in the Customizations WAR?
how is your development going? i’m having some hard time doing a customization to include a different header and menu to the chrome(spaces layout).

I’ve had to stop work on this for the moment.
Look at the Application template panel GlobalToolbar

The link above by manish should help you achieve what you are after.
