Today I was fortunate enough to be invited into a Webcenter presentation with two Oracle representatives.
I was quite happily shocked with what I was shown. And will be taking back the rant I left a week a so a go, about Oracle portal technology “being a pile of poo”. It actually looks good, even though I am presuming its not yet complete as Oracles demo was a slide show / video presentation!…
I`m gonna have to say well done to the BEA team! I can see they are starting to have a positive effect on Oracles software. Keep up the great work guys, I am loving the improvements its slowly getting as sexy as sharepoint!!
P.S. Please just get rid of that Oracle UCM portal component and force your clients to use Webcenter! Thanks..

I think the portal story is going to get a lot better when coupled with the coming 10gR4 WCM for Stellent. The ability to basically call contributor as a stand-alone item FROM the portals will be pretty cool.
Hi John,
Can you give us a little more detail about what you saw?
Was it WebLogic Portal, WebCenter Interaction (fka: AquaLogic Portal, fka: Plumtree), or Oracle WebCenter Spaces/Framework?

Hey Peter,
I saw WebCenter Spaces/Framework.
But I will be writing up my understanding of BEAs Weblogic and whats happening with the Oracles Application server later today if I get time
Also where I see webcenter / weblogic sitting.
I know a lot of people are getting very confused with whats going on if they don’t work closely with Oracle or their partners..
But as the project manager
you can give us a better overview…
I`m sure my understanding will be wrong.
