Right so excuse this old post - I meant to release it back in 2009/05/31 but work got the better of me and not its time to catch up with the blog posts..
Ok, so a couple months ago I was talking about Bespin (Mozilla`s code collaboration RIA) and I guess, I kinda compared this with Aptana/eclipse saying it was going to kill it.. But after using it I must admit for the moment I`v changed my mind.. Eclipse and also aptana still rocks no other system comes close for me… But also Bespin is still in early development, so who knows? JDeveloper 11g anyone?
So, why am I psyched about Google Wave.. OMG just watch the presentation!! I mean, I didn`t even know with gears you could do a drag/drop upload into a webbrowser - You know whats going through my head now… Digaset/UCM drag drop files into folders on the digaset desktop browser like webdav but all through the browser (my original plan was java applet drag and drop onto that within a browse but now.. GWT)!!?! Yes, that is going to absolutly rock! (one catch you need GWT but hey Digaset desktop UCM offline release is planned for November 09 launch…) - (Saying that html 5 works in FF3.5 so we could implement DD - check this demo out - http://decafbad.com/blog/2009/07/15/html5-drag-and-drop)
Collaboration and discussions - I know I`m going to be ripping my hair out with this one..
Do I go with Oracle Presence… or Wave..
Wave is so awesome and free and open source and as Digaset will be releasing a mini content management system - for those who dont have the money to spend on Oracle I feel it will have to be Wave integration with use later looking into Presence. Because then we get Jdev collaboration and more unity, but you`ll just have to wait and see..
Update — Yes we are going with Wave..
Because of this Digaset Desktop will be delayed… We want to release this with the Wave option.
I`m back from an amazing week in Sunny Sharm, Egypt.
And now onto the final bug fixing phase and testing of the Digaset Desktop component - RIA for Oracle UCM.
Also some of you will be glad to know the first release will also support the following languages:- English, French, Romanian, Slovenian, Italian and Portuguese.
Digaset Desktop also recieved it’s first intro over at Fusion ECM rating it as one of the top 10 UCM components and I believe although I was not there also got a mention at the Oracle Collaborate 09 conference!

Well I almost had a heart attack today, when I found out what Microsoft had released.. “Live Mesh”
From the reviews and info I found, I thought they had developed a clone of the Digaset Software Suite that Landon and I have been developing over the last 6 months…
Fortunately its not! But it does have a few similarities.. Go check it out, its pretty interesting.
You can view an interview with the developers at on10.net
Or check out the Live Mesh Technical Preview..
It looks like Digasets applications, will soon be ported onto Adobe AIR..Â
I`v been secretly working with AIR; looking into the possibilities of using it with the Digaset application suit and I`m happy to say that I have managed to port the front end of one of our systems.
From the initial tests the system works far better on air than any browser even better than Opera!!
In theory this means we can package our applications into air and give our clients the choice of using their webbrowser or installing the air application, giving them more stability and better performance, plus it will also help us to decrease our bandwidth usage!..
